This site is
designed to be shown full screen.
Linda M. Norton studio features marine art, landscapes, portraiture, animals, flowers, and architecture. Ms. Norton's series on the American Flag in the Penobscot Bay area which she started in 1998 and continues to add to can be viewed on this site. In addition to this varied subject matter Linda also does commissioned works which she refers to as " Genealogy art©" that contains portraiture of several generations in one painting with calligraphy to explain the relationship. Original art and Giclée prints are both available on the following pages. "On the Easel" works can also be viewed by clicking on the Original Artwork link on the bottom of this page to see the beginnings of new works and watch their progress and development. Her new series "From the Deck of ©" will be displayed as it is created. It is Linda's inspirational attempt to allow her patrons to visually sail on some of the classic Windjammers.
Linda's inspiration comes from many sources in the tradition of the Wyeth's, Winslow Homer and other famous artists who loved the sea. Faux painting techniques and Decorative Plasters are also shown as part of Linda's larger mural works and home design and color consultation business.
Located in the Maternal family home in Camden, Maine. The house, studio and gallery were built in the 1890's during the end of the Victorian Age, the house has been in her Mother's (Leadbetter) family since 1910. As a child Linda spent every summer here and was captured by the beauty and excitement of living near the sea. As an adult her children learned to love the area and now her grandchildren visit as often as possible.
In 2000 Linda and "Stretch" her opinionated Siamese cat, moved into the family home permanently achieving part of her lifelong dream - to live in this special place where she could expand her career as a professional artist. "Stretch" passed on in November of 2005 and recently "Angelique & Mistress" have become her artistic boondoggles. Not particularly artistically inclined they do require sunrise walks on the beach and consistently rise early 4 AM their preference.
"Please enjoy your visit to the gallery and studio on line."
states Linda " You're also always welcome to make an appointment to stop in the next time you are
in the Camden area." she adds. New pieces are added to this site on a regular basis. Other works
not shown here are available only at the gallery.
