Tel: (207) 230 - 0129Included in the paintings that Linda submitted to the United
States Coast Guard in January of 2001 was one titled "The
Eagles Flag". The enthusiasm generated by those who viewed this
work, persuaded her to
create "National Pride".
Encouraged by the reception that these two works received she painted "Aboard
Angelique" and decided to depict another marine view of Old Glory and doggedly worked
on "Stairway to the Stars"
while fulfilling other artistic commitments. She completed it on September
10, 2001.
Never expecting the events of the following day Linda thought that she had
probably exhausted her clients enthusiasm for this national emblem. "I
couldn't have been more mistaken! " States Linda. She goes
on to say," At sea and ashore the American people have
proudly flown our flag in support of this nation, our freedom and each other. My
observations of this in Camden, Rockport, Lincolnville, Rockland and other areas of mid coast
Maine and my personal remembrances of the Fourth of July have encouraged me to
create this series.
My intent is to record through watercolor renderings a group of paintings of the
American Flag as displayed in a small New England seaside village and its
adjoining area towns. The relevance of our flag as a source of pride and unity
and how and where it is displayed by local residents both publicly and
privately. I wish to emphasize the respect, honor and individualism shown in
usage in conjunction with different lifestyles and occupations." She says.
"From a percentage of the sale of the originals and limited edition Iris
Giclée prints I hope to acquire the funding to make this series available to be shown at Charitable
Organizations nationally. Image use is available at no cost to non profit
organizations to produce posters. One hundred percent of the proceeds from the sale of posters
going to the organization ". States Linda. "An example of this is found in the "501 Gala"

of a non profit organization which might find this series useful.
